Mark Sanchez has been really efficient lately for the New York Jets

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 16 December 2011 at 1:18 pm

25-year old QB Mark Sanchez has been really efficient the last three weeks, leading the Jets to 99 combined points in those games!  He has completed 49 of 88 passes (55.7%) for 526 yards with 7 TD passes and 1 INT.  He has now played in 13 games for the Jets so far this year and he has completed 242 of 426 passes (56.8%) for 2,859 yards with 21 TD passes and 11 INTs (83.1 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 30 times for 85 yards (2.8 ypc) with 5 TD runs.  Sanchez is starting to really improve his decision making lately and it’s leading to Jets’ wins.

CB Darrelle Revis is back to his dominating self for the New York Jets

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Tuesday 6 December 2011 at 6:43 pm

26-year old cornerback Darrelle Revis is back to being one of the best defensive players on the planet.  He had a rough time in 2010 due to injuries but he has rebounded with a vengeance in 2011.  Revis has played in 12 games for the Jets so far this year and he has 43 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 13 passes defensed and 4 interceptions (one returned for a TD).  Revis has been locking down whatever WR he lines up against this year and he’s making opposing QBs pay for challenging him.  Revis has now played in 73 games in his first five years with the Jets and he has 274 tackles, 87 passes defensed, 18 interceptions (3 returned for TDs), 1 sack, 2 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries and 2 tackles for a loss.

Joe McKnight has been a solid asset for the New York Jets so far this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Thursday 1 December 2011 at 4:21 am

23-year old RB Joe McKnight has been a lot more productive than most people this he has been so far this year for the Jets.  He has played in 11 games for the Jets this year in which he has carried the ball 39 times for 133 yards (3.4 ypc) and he has caught 11 passes for 110 yards (10.0 avg).  McKnight has also returned 26 kickoffs for 901 yards (34.7 avg) with 1 TD return and 5 punts for 26 yards (5.2 avg) so far this year.  McKnight has touched the ball 81 times for 1,170 yards (14.4 yards per touch) and he is averaging 106.4 all purpose yards per game for the Jets this year.  The Jets hope that McKnight keeps up the good work the rest of the season.

The New York Jets usually back up Rex Ryan’s talk

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 12 November 2011 at 1:56 am

48-year old head coach Rex Ryan likes to talk trash and most of the time his team backs him up.  The Jets are a little down right now at 5-3, but they are still tied for first place in the division with the Patriots and Bills.  This team is a little surprising in the fact that they can’t run the ball (96.6 yards rushing per game, 3.6 yards per carry) or stop the run (123.0 yards rushing, 4.2 yards per carry) so far this year.  Still, the Jets are 25-15 (62.5%) in Ryan’s first three years on the job during the regular season and that’s not too shabby.

The New York Jets are getting outstanding work out of the return men

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Thursday 3 November 2011 at 1:44 pm

RB Joe McKnight has not gotten much P.T. offensively, but he is still helping out the Jets big time on special teams.  McKnight has returned 13 kickoffs for 520 yards (40.0 avg) with 1 TD return.  He has also returned 4 punts for 26 yards (6.5 avg) so far this year.  Rookie WR Jeremy Kerley has also been effective on special teams for the Jets so far this year.  He has returned 14 punts for 143 yards (10.2 avg) and 1 kickoff for 15 yards so far this year.  Antonio Cromartie (7 returns, 165 yards, 23.6 avg), Josh Baker (1 return for 16 yards), John Conner (1 return for 11 yards) and Garrett McIntyre (1 return for 0 yards) also have pitched in on kickoff returns for the Jets this year.  The Jets have returned 24 kickoffs for 727 yards (30.3 avg) with 1 TD return and they have also returned 18 punts for 169 yards (9.4 avg) so far this year.

The New York Jets have the best pair of starting corners in the NFL

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 22 October 2011 at 4:11 am

Forget all of the nonsense about the Eagles having the best corners in the NFL.  That is hogwash!  The Jets have by far the best starting pair of corners in the NFL.  Opposing QBs have a 62.1 QB Rating so far this year, and it’s largely because of the corners.  26-year old Darrelle Revis is 100% healthy after an injury filled 2010 season.  He has played in all 6 games for the Jets so far this year and he has 18 tackles, 7 passes defensed and 3 interceptions (120 return yards) with 1 TD.  His interception return last Monday Night against the Dolphins went for a 100 yard TD.  On the other side of the D is 27-year old corner Antonio Cromartie.  He has played in all six games for the Jets so far this year and he has 18 tackles, 4 passes defensed and 3 interceptions (105 return yards)!  These guys are almost impossible to throw on and the Jets like it that way.

The New York Jets need Mark Sanchez to step up

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Wednesday 12 October 2011 at 7:32 pm

The New York Jets need 24-year old QB Mark Sanchez to step up.  The Jets are having a hard time running the ball because opposing teams are putting extra defenders in the box to force Sanchez to beat them with his arm.  Sanchez has played in all five games for the Jets so far this year and he has completed 97 of 173 passes (56.1%) for 1,171 yards with 8 TD passes and 5 INTs (80.4 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 9 times for 37 yards (4.1 ypc) with 1 TD run so far this year.  Sanchez has been inconsistent as a thrower in his NFL career and the Jets hope that he can fix that this year as the season goes on.

The New York Jets are going to try to get the running game going again

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 8 October 2011 at 1:35 pm

The Jets have thrown the ball 147 times so far this year, while only running the ball 92 times.  Head Coach Rex Ryan wants to get back to running the ball first.  They Jets are only averaging 71.0 yards rushing per game and 3.1 yards per carry so far this year, and that just doesn’t cut it.  26-year old Shonn Greene was supposed to take over as the featured back for the Jets and he is off to a very slow start.  Greene has played in all four games for the Jets so far this year and he has carried the ball 51 times for 157 yards (3.1 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He has also caught 10 passes for 60 yards (6.0 avg) so far this year for the Jets.  32-year old LaDainian Tomlinson has also played in all four games for the Jets so far this year and he has carried the ball 20 times for 59 yards (3.0 ypc).  But, he has been a big asset in the passing game as he has caught 13 passes for 200 yards (15.4 avg) with 1 TD grab so far this year.  The Jets need Greene and Tomlinson to jumpstart the running game starting this weekend against the Patriots.

Dustin Keller is really stepping up for the New York Jets

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 30 September 2011 at 1:19 am

27-year old TE Dustin Keller has been the go-t0 man for the Jets so far this year in the passing game.  Keller has played in 3 games for the Jets so far this year and he has caught 16 passes for 249 yards (15.6 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  Coming into this season, Keller played in 48 games in his first three years with the Jets and he caught 148 passes for 1,744 yards (11.8 avg) with 10 TD grabs.  At some point the Jets are probably going to try to throw the ball to the receivers a little bit more, but it’s good to see Keller really stepping up his game.  Heck, he might even be a Pro Bowler for the Jets this year.

Mark Sanchez is stepping up for the New York Jets

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Wednesday 21 September 2011 at 7:49 pm

24-year old QB Mark Sanchez is really stepping up for the Jets so far this year.  The Jets have not been able to run the ball too well this year, so the offense has been carried by Sanchez’ right arm.  Sanchez has played in both of the Jets games so far this year and he has completed 43 of 68 passes (63.2%) for 517 yards with 4 TD passes and 3 INTs (87.7 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 4 times for 32 yards (8.0 ypc) so far this year.  The Jets need Sanchez to keep up the good work at least until the Jets can fix their running game.
