New York Jets 38, Buffalo Bills 7

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Monday 3 January 2011 at 4:18 pm

The New York Jets took the Buffalo Bills behind the woodshed yesterday!  Mark Sanchez played the first series in this game without attempting any passes before sitting down and watching the rest of the game.  Mark Brunell played most of the rest of the game as he completed 6 of 12 passes for 110 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT (It was returned 37 yards for a TD by Jairus Byrd of the Bills).  Kellen Clemens finished up  this game at QB by completing 1 of 2 passes for 6 yards.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 9 yards (4.5 ypc) with a TD run.  Rookie RB Joe McKnight was a workhorse yesterday as he carried the ball 32 times for 158 yards (4.9 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 15 yards (7.5 avg).  Brad Smith rushed for 60 yards on 5 carries (12.0 ypc) and he completed his only pass attempt which was good for 3 yards yesterday.  Rookie fullback John Conner also got into the action yesterday with 8 carries for 44 yards (5.5 ypc) with a TD run.  WRs Braylon Edwards (1 rec, 52 yards, TD), Jerricho Cotchery (3 rec, 32 yards) and Santonio Holmes (1 rec, 17 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game yesterday.  The Jets finished up with 276 yards rushing on 50 carries (5.5 ypc) and they also completed 8 of 15 passes for 112 yards as they had possession of the football for 35:35.

The Jets rested a lot of players on D but the ones that played were electric.  CB Marquice Cole led the way for the Jets on D with 6 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 2 interceptions (one of which he returned 35 yards for a TD).  CB/S Dwight Lowery (fumble recovery, interception), LB Jamaal Westerman (fumble recovery) and OLB Calvin Pace (interception) also made big plays for the Jets’ D yesterday.  The Bills finished up with 37 yards rushing on 18 carries (2.1 ypc) and they also completed 12 of 26 passes for 125 yards in this game.  The Jets finished the regular season with an 11-5 record which had them in second place in the AFC East.  They will be heading to Indianapolis this weekend for a playoff tilt with the Colts.

Chicago Bears 38, New York Jets 34

The Jets just couldn’t keep up with Bears in a very unexpected offensive shootout at Soldier Field yesterday.  Mark Sanchez looked good despite throwing the ball with a banged up shoulder as he completed 24 of 37 passes for 269 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  Shonn Greene led the way on the ground for the Jets in this game with 70 yards on 12 carries (5.8 ypc) with 1 TD run and he also caught 2 passes for 14 yards.  LaDainian Tomlinson had a rough game as he carried the ball 13 times for 28 yards (2.2 ypc) with 1 TD run and he also caught 2 passes for 14 yards.  Brad Smith pitched in with 2 carries for 18 yards (9.0 ypc) in this game.  TE Dustin Keller (7 rec, 79 yards), WR Braylon Edwards (6 rec, 78 yards) and WR Santonio Holmes (4 rec, 69 yards, TD) led the way for the Jets in the passing game.  The Jets rushed for 124 yards on 30 carries (4.1 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 38 passes for 269 yards as they had possession of the ball for 33:51 in this game.

The Jets’ D got pushed around a little bit in this game.  LB David Harris (4 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 QB hit) and safety Brodney Pool (4 tackles and 3 passes defensed) led the way for the Jets’ on D yesterday.  CB Dwight Lowery only had 1 tackle and 1 pass defensed but he picked off a Jay Cutler pass and he returned it 20 yards for a TD.  The Bears finished up  with 120 yards rushing on 27 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 13 of 25 passes for 202 yards.  The Jets are now 10-5 on the year but despite losing they sewed up a Wild Card spot in the AFC playoffs.

New York Jets 22, Pittsburgh Steelers 17

The Jets knew they would be in for a dogfight in this game but it started off with a bang when Brad Smith returned the opening kickoff of this game 97 yards for a TD.  Mark Sanchez was efficient and the most important thing was that he didn’t make any big mistakes.  Sanchez completed 19 of 29 passes for 170 yards with 0 TD passes and 0 INTs in this game and he also carried the ball 3 times for 15 yards (5.0 ypc) in this game.  LaDainian Tomlinson (11 carries for 49 yards) and Shonn Greene (12 carries for 40 yards) led the way on the ground in this game and they paid for every yard they got.  Braylon Edwards (8 rec, 100 yards) and Santonio Holmes (6 rec, 40 yards) led the way for the Jets in the passing game.  The Jets finished up with 106 yards rushing on 27 carries (3.9 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 29 passes for 170 yards.

The Jets’ D was in bend but don’t break mode in this game as they gave up a lot of yards but not many points!  CB Drew Coleman (10 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 2 sacks), CB Darrelle Revis (7 tackles, 1 pass defensed) and LB David Harris (7 tackles) led the way for the Jets on D in this game.  OLB Jason Taylor pitched in with 2 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss with one of them resulting in a safety when he tackled Mewelde Moore.  The Steelers finished up with 147 yards rushing on 25 carries (5.9 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 44 passes for 231 yards.  The Jets are now 10-4 on the season after this win and they are still 2 games behind the Patriots in the AFC East.

The Jets’ offense sucked yesterday as they wasted an OUTSTANDING effort by the defense.  Mark Sanchez sucked yesterday as he completed 17 of 44 passes for 216 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 20 yards (10.0 ypc) yesterday.  Not only did Sanchez throw 2 pickoffs in this game but he also fumbled four times, losing only one of them.  LaDainian Tomlinson led the way on the ground for the Jets in this game with 49 yards rushing on 19 carries (2.6 ypc).  He also caught 2 passes for 5 yards (2.5 avg) in this game.  Shonn Greene only rushed for 17 yards on 8 carries (2.1 ypc) but he also caught 3 passes for 29 yards (9.7 avg).  WR Jerricho Cotchery (5 rec, 59 yards) and WR Santonio Holmes (2 rec, 57 yards) both dropped a few passes that were right on.  The Jets finished up with 87 yards rushing on 31 carries (2.8 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 44 passes for 193 yards as they had possession of the ball for 33:48.

The defense was incredible for the Jets yesterday.  DT Sione Pouha (10 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 QB hit and 1 fumble recovery), LB Bart Scott (9 tackles and 1 QB hit), safety Brodney Pool (4 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 QB hit and 1 fumble recovery) and OLB Jason Taylor (fumble recovery) led the way for the Jets’ D in this game.  The Dolphins finished up with 101 yards rushing on 32 carries (3.2 ypc) and they also completed 5 of 19 passes for 30 yards.   The Jets are now 9-4 on the season and they are two games behind the Patriots in the AFC East.

I couldn’t have been more wrong in my preview of this game as the Patriots punched the Jets in the mouth early in this game and they kept doing it until the game clock read all zeroes.  Mark Sanchez looked like a deer in headlights as he completed 17 of 33 passes for 164 yards with 0 TD passes and 3 INTs.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 20 yards (5.0 ypc) in this game.  Shonn Greene led the way on the ground for the Jets in this game with 64 yards rushing on 13 carries (4.9 ypc).  LaDainian Tomlinson pitched in with 47 yards rushing on 10 carries (4.7 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 14 yards (7.0 avg).  Joe McKnight even got in on the action late in this game with 19 yards rushing on 3 carries (6.3 ypc).  WR Santonio Holmes (7 rec, 72 yards) and TE Dustin Keller (3 rec, 27 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Jets last night.  The Jets finished up with 152 yards rushing on 31 carries (4.9 ypc) last night and they also completed 17 of 33 passes for 149 yards.

The vaunted Jets’ defense also sucked last night as Tom Brady shredded the secondary as he completed 21 of 29 passes for 326 yards with 4 TD passes and 0 INTs.  DT Sione Pouha (8 tackles), safety Eric Smith (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack, 1 pass defensed and 1 QB hit) and safety Brodney Pool (7 tackles) led the way for the Jets’ “D” in this game.  The Patriots finished up with 101 yards rushing on 26 carries (3.9 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 29 passes for 304 yards.  The Jets are now 9-3 on the season, 1 game behind the Patriots in the AFC East.

New York Jets 26, Cincinnati Bengals 10

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Friday 26 November 2010 at 2:49 pm

The defense, special teams and Brad Smith were the big reasons for the win yesterday.  Safety Eric Smith (8 tackles) and OLB Calvin Pace (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit) led the way for the Jets’ D in this game.  CB Antonio Cromartie and safety Jim Leonhard each pitched in with a interception apiece last night.  The Bengals finished up with only 46 yards rushing on 20 carries (2.3 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 39 passes for 117 yards as they only had the ball for 26:31 last night.

WR/KR Brad Smith gets his own paragraph because he was awesome yesterday.  He carried the ball 3 times for 55 yards with a 53-yard TD run and he also caught 1 pass for 23 yards.  But he saved his best for last.  The Bengals pulled within 7 points (17-10) in the 4th quarter and that’s when Brad Smith returned a kickoff 89 yards for a TD to kick the lead back up to 24-10.  Smith was the biggest reason for the Jets’ win last night.

Mark Sanchez had a rough night as he completed 16 of 28 passes for 166 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  Shonn Green (18 carries, 70 yards) and LaDainian Tomlinson (13 carries, 49 yards) led the way on the ground for  the Jets last night.  TE Dusin Keller (4 rec, 49 yards) and Santonio Holmes (5 rec, 44 yards, TD) led the way for the Jets in the passing game last night.  The Jets finished up with 170 yards rushing on 37 carries (4.6 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 28 passes for 149 yards.  The Jets are now 9-2 on the season.

The Jets’ D played good for three quarters before almost costing them the game giving up 20 points in the final stanza.  The Texans finished up with 97 yards rushing on 26 carries (3.7 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 33 passes for 246 yards.  The Jets are now 8-2 on the season.

Mark Sanchez hit WR Santonio Holmes with a 37 yard TD pass with only 16 seconds left in O.T. to prevail in a war with the Browns.  Sanchez played a solid game for the Jets today as he completed 27 of 44 passes for 299 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 4 yards (2.0 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Shonn Greene led the way on the ground for the Jets today with 72 yards rushing on 20 carries (3.6 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 22 yards (7.3 avg).  LaDainian Tomlinson also had to fight for every single yard today as he rushed for 57 yards on 18 carries (3.2 ypc) and he also caught 6 passes for 53 yards (8.8 avg).  Brad Smith carried the ball 5 times for 39 yards (7.8 ypc) in the Wildcat Formation for the Jets today.  WRs Santonio Holmes (5 rec, 76 yards, TD), Braylon Edwards (4 rec, 59 yards) and Jerricho Cotchery (3 rec, 43 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Jets today.  The Jets finished up with 172 yards rushing on 45 carries (3.8 ypc) and they completed 27 of 44 passes for 284 yards as they had possession of the ball an amazing 47:08 which was almost 20 minutes more than the Browns had the ball!

OLB Calvin Pace (7 tackles, 1 sack and 1 QB hit), safety Jim Leonhard (6 tackles, 1 fumble recovery) and ILB David Harris (6 tackles, 1 fumble recovery) led the way for the Jets’ D today.  But it was CB Antonio Cromartie’s recovery of a Chansi Stuckey fumble in Jets’ territory in O.T. that saved this game.  The Browns finished up with 107 yards rushing on 25 carries (4.3 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 31 passes for 196 yards.  The Jets also have to be very upset with kicker Nick Folk who only hit 2 of 5 field goals in this game.  The Jets are now 7-2 on the year.

The Jets couldn’t get anything going offensively and it ruined a great effort by the defense.  Mark Sanchez was scattershot all game long as he only completed 16 of 38 passes for 256 yards with 0 TD passes and 2 INTs.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 22 yards (11.0 ypc).  LaDainian Tomlinson led the way on the ground for the Jets in this game with 16 carries for 54 yards (3.4 ypc) and he also caught 5 passes for 37 yards (7.4 avg).  Jerrichco Cotchery led the way for the Jets in this passing game yesterday as he caught 4 passes for 89 yards (22.3 avg).  The Jets finished up with 119 yards rushing on 29 carries (4.1 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 38 passes for 241 yards.

LBs David Harris (9 tackles) and Bart Scott (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 QB hit) led the way for the Jets’ D in this game.  The defense was outstanding as they gave a winning effort that was ruined by the pop gun offense of the Jets.  The Packers finished up with 81 yards rushing on 26 carries (3.1 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 34 passes for 156 yards.  The Jets are now 5-2 on the year.
