The New York Jets are sending a trio of players to the Pro Bowl

Blogged under Attention Jets Fans,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Pro Bowl by admin on Wednesday 28 December 2011 at 5:08 pm

The New York Jets will be sending a trio of players to the Pro Bowl.  26-year old CB Darrelle Revis will be a starter for the AFC.  He has played in 15 games for the Jets so far this year and he has 51 tackles, 19 passes defensed, 4 interceptions (184 total return yards with 1 TD return) and 1 tackle for a loss.  28-year old OT D’Brickashaw Ferguson and 27-year old center Nick Mangold will be going to Hawaii as reserves.  Ferguson has played in 15 games (all starts) for the Jets this year, while center Nick Mangold has played in 13 games (all starts) so far this season.

LaDainlian Tomlinson is going to miss some time for the New York Jets

Blogged under Attention Jets Fans,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports,Needs to Step Up by admin on Tuesday 15 November 2011 at 12:44 am

32-year old RB LaDainlian Tomlinson is going to miss at least a couple of weeks due to a sprained left MCL.  Tomlinson has played in 9 games for the Jets so far this year and he has carried the ball 46 times for 167 yards (3.6 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He has also caught 25 passes for 312 yards (12.5 avg) with 1 TD grab so far this year.  The Jets will need 23-year old Joe McKnight to step up while L.T. is out of action.  McKnight has played in all 9 games for the Jets so far this year and he has carried the ball 19 times for 53 yards (2.8 ypc).  He also has caught 2 passes for 29 yards (14.5 avg) in 2011.

The New York Jets sign TE Shawn Nelson

Blogged under Attention Jets Fans,Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Wednesday 2 November 2011 at 12:56 pm

The Jets have signed 26-year old TE Shawn Nelson.  Nelson played in 5 games for the Bills last year and he caught 3 passes for 25 yards (8.3 avg).  He has now played in 17 games in his first two years in the NFL and he has caught 20 passes for 181 yards (9.1 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Nelson is a decent player and he has key intel this weekend for the Jets as they are hooking up with his ex-team, the Bills.

The New York Jets release center Colin Baxter

Blogged under Attention Jets Fans,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 26 October 2011 at 1:13 pm

The Jets have released 24-year old rookie center Colin Baxter.  Baxter played in 3 games (2 starts) for the Jets this year.  Baxter was awful filling in for Nick Mangold earlier this year.  Now that Mangold is back, the Jets have absolutely no need to keep Baxter around.  If Mangold gets hurt again, the Jets can find a street free agent better than Baxter.

The New York Jets place WR Logan Payne on I.R.

Blogged under Attention Jets Fans,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Saturday 22 October 2011 at 9:19 pm

The Jets have finally placed 26-year old WR Logan Payne on the Injured Reserve List, ending his season due to a wrist that he dislocated in the pre-season.  Payne didn’t play in any games for the Jets this year.  He has played in 2 games (2 starts) in his NFL career and he has caught 3 passes for 39 yards (13.0 avg).  All of his catches came back in 2008 with the Seahawks.  This isn’t much of a loss for the Jets.

The New York Jets deal WR Derrick Mason to the Texans

Blogged under Attention Jets Fans,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Trades by admin on Wednesday 12 October 2011 at 1:38 pm

The Jets have dealt 37-year old WR Derrick Mason to the Houston Texans for a conditional 7th round pick.  Mason played in all five games for the Jets in 2011 and he caught 13 passes for 115 yards (8.8 avg).  He has voiced his displeasure over the offensive gameplans which made it even easier for the Jets to deal him.  22-year old rookie WR Jeremy Kerley will now be the Jets’ #3 WR going forward.  He has played in all five games for the Jets so far this year and he has caught 3 passes for 35 yards (11.7 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Kerley has also returned 11 punts for 125 yards (11.4 avg) and 1 kickoff for 15 yards so far this year.

The New York Jets lose TE Jeff Cumberland for the season

Blogged under Attention Jets Fans,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 26 September 2011 at 10:28 pm

The Jets have lost 24-year old backup TE Jeff Cumberland for the rest of the season due to a torn ACL.  Cumberland played in all 3 games this year for the Jets and he caught 2 passes for 35 yards (17.5 avg).  He has now played in 4 games in his first two years with the Jets and he has caught 3 passes for 38 yards (12.7 avg).  This is a bad break for Cumberland as he was starting to get some P.T. this year behind Dustin Keller.  The Jets should be o.k. without him though.

The New York Jets lose starting center Nick Mangold for a while

Blogged under Attention Jets Fans,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports,Needs to Step Up by admin on Tuesday 20 September 2011 at 1:39 pm

The New York Jets will be without 27-year old center Nick Mangold for the next 2-3 weeks due to a high ankle sprain.  This is really going to hurt the offense as the Jets only have undrafted rookies Colin Baxter (Arizona) and Taylor Boggs (Humboldt State) behind Mangold on the depth chart.  They might look to bring in a free agent.  No matter which way they go, they are going to miss Mangold who is one of the best centers in all of football.  The Jets are only averaging 73.0 yards rushing per game and 3.0 yards per carry, and I think that’s where they are going to miss Mangold the most.

The New York Jets claim QB Kevin O’Connell off waivers

Blogged under Attention Jets Fans,Bloglockers,Front Page,General by admin on Monday 5 September 2011 at 3:39 pm

The Jets have claimed 26-year old QB Kevin O’Connell off waivers from the Dolphins.  O’Connell’s only regular season experience came back in 2008 with the Patriots.  He played in 2 games (0 starts) for the Patriots in 2008 and he completed 4 of 6 passes (66.7%) for 23 yards without a TD pass or INT (73.6 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 3 times for -6 yards (-2.0 ypc) last year.  O’Connell will likely be the Jets’ #3 QB as long as veteran Mark Brunell can stay in one piece.

The New York Jets claim WR Mardy Gilyard off waivers

Blogged under Attention Jets Fans,Bloglockers,Front Page,General by admin on Monday 5 September 2011 at 3:36 pm

The Jets have claimed 25-year old WR/KR Mardy Gilyard off waivers from the Rams.  Gilyard played in 11 games (2 starts) as a rookie for the Rams last year and he caught 6 passes for 63 yards (10.5 avg).  He also returned 16 kickoffs for 356 yards (22.3 avg) for the Rams last year.  Maybe a change of scenery will spark Gilyard to be the player the Rams though they were drafting in April of 2010.

UPDATE:  (9/10/2011) – The Jets have released Mardy Gilyard.
