New York Jets 28, Buffalo Bills 24

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Monday 28 November 2011 at 1:53 am

The Jets’ offense came alive to cover for the D today.  Mark Sanchez completed 17 of 35 passes for 180 yards with 4 TD passes and 1 INT today.  Shonn Greene amped up the running game with 78 yards rushing on 13 carries (6.0 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 12 yards (4.0 avg).  Joe McKnight pitched in with 21 yards rushing on 4 carries (5.3 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 19 yards (6.3 avg) in this game.  TE Dustin Keller (4 rec, 61 yards, 2 TDs), WR Plaxico Burress (4 rec, 54 yards, TD) and WR Santonio Holmes (2 rec, 22 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Jets.  The Jets finished up with 138 yards rushing on 23 carries (6.0 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 35 passes (48.6%) for 180 yards as they had possession of the ball for only 23:49.

The defense had issues today as the Bills were throwing the ball all over the field against them.  CB Darrelle Revis (8 tackles, 1 pass defensed) and LB David Harris (8 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit) led the way on D for the Jets today.  CB Donald Strickland (6 tackles) and OLB Aaron Maybin (2 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks and 2 QB hits) also pitched in for the Jets on D today.  The Bills finished up with 86 yards rushing on 28 carries (3.1 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 39 passes (66.7%) for 250 yards in this game.  The Jets are now 6-5 on the year.

New York Jets (5-5) vs. Buffalo Bills (5-5)

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,This Week's Matchup Report by admin on Friday 25 November 2011 at 10:28 pm

The Jets beat the Bills 27-11 just three weeks ago in Buffalo, and they have not won since.  The Jets have been outscored 54-29 the last two games.  The Bills have lost three games in a row by a combined score of 106-26!  Here is a look at the matchups in this game:

When the Jets have the ball:  The Jets might try to get the running game going if Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson are ready to play.  If not, look for Mark Sanchez to get the shackles taken off.  It makes sense to let Sanchez throw the ball 30+ times in this game as both of the Bills’ starting CBs are out for the season and the Bills only have 16 sacks so far this year.  WRs Plaxico Burress and Santonio Holmes have huge edges over the corners that will be playing this weekend.  If the Bills’ safeties try to double team either of the Jets’ WRs, look for Sanchez to attack them down the middle of the field with TE Dustin Keller.

When the Bills have the ball:  The Bills have had issues throwing the ball as of late, so I have a feeling that they might come out running the ball.  C.J. Spiller will be getting the start at RB and he has explosive speed.  The Jets’ front seven are going to have their hands full with stopping Spiller.  The Jets won’t be blitzing much in this game as they are confident that their secondary will be able to shut down Ryan Fitzpatrick again this weekend.

PREDICTION:  JETS 24, BILLS 13

The New York Jets need Mark Sanchez to step up

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Needs to Step Up by admin on Thursday 24 November 2011 at 2:07 am

The New York Jets need more out of 25-year old QB Mark Sanchez.  He has played in 10 games for the Jets so far this year and he has completed 193 of 338 passes (57.1%) for 2,333 yards with 14 TD passes and 10 INTs (79.9 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 23 times for 75 yards (3.3 ypc) with 3 TD runs so far this year.  Sanchez has been really inconsistent this year and that has allowed opposing defenses to to gang up and stop the Jets’ running game.  Sanchez is still making the same mistakes that he has made since his rookie year as he just hasn’t got any better.

Denver Broncos 17, New York Jets 13

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Friday 18 November 2011 at 1:49 pm

The Jets stopped the Broncos’ offense the whole game until there was 5:54 left in the game.  That’s when Tim Tebow and his Broncos took over the ball at their own 5-yard line.  He then led the Broncos on a 12 play, 95 yard TD drive capped off by a Tebow 20-yard TD with only 58 seconds left in the game, and it doomed the Jets last night.

The Jets offense was pretty awful in this game as OG Matt Slauson recovered a Bilal Powell fumble, which he returned 1 yard for the Jets’ only TD of the night!  Mark Sanchez was not good last night as he completed 24 of 40 passes for 252 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 interception (it was returned 26 yards for a TD by Broncos’ CB Andre Goodman).  Shonn Greene didn’t last long before leaving this game due to injury as he carried the ball 3 times for 10 yards (3.3 ypc).  Joe McKnight led the way for the Jets on the ground in this game with 59 yards rushing on 16 carries (3.7 ypc) and he also caught 6 passes for 62 yards (10.3 avg) in this game.  WR Plaxico Burress (4 rec, 64 yards) and TE Dustin Keller (5 rec, 40 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Jets last night.  The Jets finished up with 83 yards rushing on 28 carries (3.0 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 40 passes (60%) for 235 yards as they had possession of the ball for 32:12.

The defense was awesome for the Jets until the last drive of the game, when they forgot how to play.  The Broncos only had 134 yards in this game before their 12-play, 95 yard TD drive late in the 4th quarter!  DT Sione Pouha led the way for the Jets in this game with 7 tackles.  LBs David Harris (6 tackles, 1 QB hit) and Bart Scott (4 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and a fumble recovery) also pitched in for the Jets in this game.  The Broncos finished with 125 yards rushing on 34 carries (3.7 ypc) and they also completed 9 of 21 passes (42.9%) for 104 yards.  The Jets are now 5-5 on the year.

New York Jets (5-4) vs. Denver Broncos (4-5)

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,This Week's Matchup Report by admin on Thursday 17 November 2011 at 3:25 pm

The New York Jets really need a win tonight after getting blasted by the Patriots last week.  The Broncos are 3-1 with Tim Tebow at QB, but he is 0-1 at home when the Broncos got pasted 45-10 by the Lions.  Here is a look at the matchups in this game:

When the Jets have the ball:  The Jets are going to use the “Ground and Pound” early in this game against a Broncos’ D that is giving up 117.6 yards rushing per game and 4.0 yards per carry so far this year.  Shonn Greene will have a heavy workload with L.T. out tonight.  The Jets are also going to pass a lot, especially when the secondary of the Broncos sneaks up to stop Greene.  Mark Sanchez will need to get rid of the ball quickly as the Broncos have 24 sacks already this year.  TE Dustin Keller and WRs Santonio Holmes and Plaxico Burress should be able to make plays down the field against a Broncos’ D that is allowing 243.1 yards passing per game so far this year.

When the Broncos have the ball:  This is a good matchup for the Jets’ D.  They will likely stick CB Darrelle Revis on Broncos’ WR Eric Decker, who is Tim Tebow’s favorite WR.  I don’t look for the Broncos to test the Jets’ secondary much as they already have 13 sacks this year.  The Jets are giving up 116.0 yards rushing per game and 4.0 yards per carry, so the Broncos are going to run, run and run some more tonight.  If Willis McGahee doesn’t play (he has a broken hand), the Broncos’ rushing attack (they are averaging 158.2 yards rushing per game and 5.0 yards per carry) will fall to Lance Ball and Tim Tebow.

PREDICTION:  JETS 27, BRONCOS 13

The New York Jets need more out of LB David Harris

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Needs to Step Up by admin on Thursday 17 November 2011 at 3:15 pm

The Jets have had problems stopping the run this season and 27-year old David Harris is part of the reason for that.  He has played in 9 games for the Jets this year and he has 48 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 tackles for a loss, 2 interceptions (1 returned for a TD) and 4 passes defensed.  Harris has now played in 68 games in his first five years with the Jets and he has 476 tackles, 16.5 sacks, 10 tackles for a loss, 5 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, 14 passes defensed and 4 interceptions (one returned for a TD).  The Jets need Harris to step up starting tonight in Denver against the Broncos.

LaDainlian Tomlinson is going to miss some time for the New York Jets

Blogged under Attention Jets Fans,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports,Needs to Step Up by admin on Tuesday 15 November 2011 at 12:44 am

32-year old RB LaDainlian Tomlinson is going to miss at least a couple of weeks due to a sprained left MCL.  Tomlinson has played in 9 games for the Jets so far this year and he has carried the ball 46 times for 167 yards (3.6 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He has also caught 25 passes for 312 yards (12.5 avg) with 1 TD grab so far this year.  The Jets will need 23-year old Joe McKnight to step up while L.T. is out of action.  McKnight has played in all 9 games for the Jets so far this year and he has carried the ball 19 times for 53 yards (2.8 ypc).  He also has caught 2 passes for 29 yards (14.5 avg) in 2011.

New England Patriots 37, New York Jets 16

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Monday 14 November 2011 at 7:00 pm

The New York Jets got the crap kicked out of them by the Patriots last night in New Jersey.  Mark Sanchez was off last night as he completed 20 of 39 passes for 306 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 interceptions (one was returned for a TD by Rob Ninkovich of the Patriots).  Shonn Greene led the way for the Jets on the ground in this game with 61 yards rushing on 13 carries (4.7 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 14 yards.  LaDainian Tomlinson pitched in with 38 yards rushing on 7 carries (5.4 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 22 yards.  WRs Santonio Holmes (6 rec, 93 yards), Jeremy Kerley (4 rec, 79 yards) and Plaxico Burress (3 rec, 39 yards, TD) led the way for the Jets in the passing game.  The Jets finished up with 110 yards rushing on 25 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 39 passes (51.3%) for 268 yards as they had possession of the ball for 29:53.

The defense was great against the run but not so good against the pass last night.  Safety Eric Smith (7 tackles) and OLB Calvin Pace (7 tackles) led the way for the defense in this game.  LB David Harris (6 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss) and CB Donald Strickland (6 tackles and 1 pass defensed) also pitched in for the Jets in this game.  The Patriots finished up with 60 yards rushing on 28 carries (2.1 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 39 passes (66.7%) for 329 yards.  The Jets are now 5-4 on the season.

New York Jets (5-3) vs. New England Patriots (5-3)

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,This Week's Matchup Report by admin on Saturday 12 November 2011 at 2:04 am

The Jets are on a hot streak right now as they have won three games in a row by a combined score of 78-38!  The Patriots on the other hand, have lost games to the Steelers and Giants the last two weeks.  Here is a look at the matchups in this game:

When the Jets have the ball:  The Jets are going to try to continue getting the running game going with Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson getting shots at the Patriots’ run D.  But, the Jets are going to throw the ball a lot more than usual this weekend due to the pathetic secondary of the Patriots, which is allowing 314.0 yards passing per game so far this year.  Look for Sanchez to spread the ball around to Plaxico Burress, Santonio Holmes, Dustin Keller and LaDainian Tomlinson to keep everyone happy.

When the Patriots have the ball:  The Patriots are likely going to use the TEs a lot in this game, as they are going to be careful with dealing with the Jets’ corners.  That doesn’t mean that Deion Branch and Wes Welker aren’t going to get the ball thrown their way, because they will.  The Jets are going to have to be ready to deal with BenJarvus Green-Ellis, as the Jets are giving up 123.0 yards rushing per game and 4.2 yards per carry so far this year.

PREDICTION:  JETS 30, PATRIOTS 23

The New York Jets usually back up Rex Ryan’s talk

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 12 November 2011 at 1:56 am

48-year old head coach Rex Ryan likes to talk trash and most of the time his team backs him up.  The Jets are a little down right now at 5-3, but they are still tied for first place in the division with the Patriots and Bills.  This team is a little surprising in the fact that they can’t run the ball (96.6 yards rushing per game, 3.6 yards per carry) or stop the run (123.0 yards rushing, 4.2 yards per carry) so far this year.  Still, the Jets are 25-15 (62.5%) in Ryan’s first three years on the job during the regular season and that’s not too shabby.
