New York Jets vs. Buffalo Bills

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,This Week's Matchup Report by admin on Wednesday 2 December 2009 at 9:30 pm

The Bills won the first match-up between these two teams 16-13 in OT in New Jersey.  For the Jets to get a win to even the series then Mark Sanchez must protect the football as he threw 5 pickoffs in the first game against the Bills.  The Bills are allowing 165.1 yards rushing per game and 4.8 yards per carry so look for the Jets to come out running against them.  After all, they did rush for 318 yards in the first game against the Bills this year.  Thomas Jones and Shonn Greene should have good games tomorrow against the Bills running the ball.  With ballhawking safeties like the Bills have look for Mark Sanchez to be careful when throwing the ball to TE Dustin Keller.  The Bills will likely double cover Jerricho Cotchery and make Braylon Edwards beat them in the passing game.

The Bills will likely try to mix things up on offense this week.  The Jets have a really good secondary especially CB Darrelle Revis who will likely be following the suddenly hot Terrell Owens all over the field.  That means that Lee Evans has to step up this week or Ryan Fitzpatrick could have trouble throwing the football.  The X-factor in this game is RB Fred Jackson who had a solid game last week as the main man in the running game.  He will challenge the linebackers of the Jets both running and catching the ball out of the backfield.

PREDICTION:  JETS 16, BILLS 14

The New York Jets should probably use Brad Smith a little more

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by admin on Wednesday 2 December 2009 at 9:12 pm

25-year old WR Brad Smith can do a little bit of everything for the Jets.  He has played in 8 games for the Jets this season and he has caught 4 passes for 41 yards (10.3 avg).  Smith has also carried the ball 5 times for 54 yards (10.8 ypc) so far this season.  Smith should get the ball in his hands more especially on the trick plays as he always seems to get a few yards when he touches the football.  Smith also helps out on special teams as he has returned 2 kickoffs for 53 yards (26.5 avg) and he has also made 6 tackles this year.
