The New York Jets are very happy with last April’s Draft picks
The Jets only selected three players in last April’s Draft but they are still smiling. QB Mark Sanchez (1st round, #5 overall) has stepped right into the starting job and he has been solid overall despite sub par numbers. Sanchez has completed 114 of 214 passes (53.3%) for 1,443 yards with 8 TD passes and 10 INTs (67.6 QB Rating). He has also carried the ball 24 times for 60 yards (2.5 ypc) with 3 TD runs so far this season. Look for him to keep improving with experience. RB Shonn Greene (3rd round, #65 overall) had been a disappointment until Leon Washington was lost for the season which got him onto the football field. Greene has carried the ball 34 times for 192 yards (5.6 ypc) with 2 TD runs so far this season. Expect him to be very active in the 2nd half of the season for the Jets as he will be Thomas Jones’ backup. OG Matt Slausen (6th round, #193 overall) injured himself in training camp and it ended his rookie season before it even started. This looks like it was a excellent draft as Sanchez and Greene look like they will be impact players down the road for the Jets.
