New York Jets vs. Buffalo Bills

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,This Week's Matchup Report by admin on Saturday 1 November 2008 at 11:27 am

This is a big game for both teams as the Jets are sitting at 4-2 while the Bills are 5-2.  These teams have a lot in common as they both defend the run well but have issues stopping the passing game.  The Bills are only allowing 99.3 yards rushing per game and 3.8 yards per carry but the Jets will have to try to stay balanced in this game with Thomas Jones (532 yards rushing) and Leon Washington (155 yards rushing) moving the ball on the ground.  The Bills have some injuries at cornerback so Brett Favre should have some success throwing the ball as long as the Jets’ O-Line which has allowed 16 sacks this season can protect him.

The Bills would also like to be balanced on offense and that will mean that Marshawn Lynch (450 yards rushing) and Fred Jackson (208 yards rushing) will have to find running room against a Jets’ defense that is only allowing 82.6 yards rushing per game and 3.2 yards per carry.  It the Jets are effective at stopping the Bills’ running game they will turn loose the pass rush which has produced 24 sacks already this season.  Trent Edwards will try to keep the passing game short early in the game before attacking the Jets’ D deep with Lee Evans (31 rec, 637 yards, 3 TDs).

PREDICTION:  NEW YORK JETS 20, BUFFALO BILLS 17
