The New York Jets sign CB Andre Woolfolk
The Jets have signed CB Andre Woolfolk. Woolfolk is a former first round pick of the Tennessee Titans who never quite panned out. Woolfolk did not play at all last season. In 2006 he played in 10 games last season for the Titans and he made 5 whole tackles. He has now played in 39 games in his NFL career and he has made 132 tackles, defensed 18 passes, forced 1 fumble and intercepted 3 passes. It’s doubtful that Woolfolk will be anything more than a nickel or dime back with the Jets this season.

Please, give Andre a chance before your prognosis, which by the way is inaccurate already. Andre did not play at all last season. He had a severe hamstring that sidelined him for 4-6 weeks last year right at the start of camp, rendering him unable to compete for the job when the Titans actually had 9 corners in camp. He did not play in ten games the previous season either. He netted 45 tackles the previous season in 9 games. He was injured in that 9th game and was having a banner day… That was his las big significant game and it was… Larry Fitzgerald had a pro bowl year that year, but vs Andre during 3 qtrs of that game was being shutdown… In the 2nd qtr alone the ball was thrown to him 5 times… results… 3 PDs, two catches for net 7 yards) (-2 and 9 respectively).. When Andre went down hurt the Titans annointed Reynaldo Hill the starter and he kept that until early last season… He was normally and often toast.
Andre has had two major surgeries, one on his wrist (screws were inserted for a few months and the other his ankle in his first year (rods were inserted in his ankle)… I haven’t spoke with him of late but am sure that he has more than worked out and stayed in shape as well as worked on technique. Andre is a weight room beast. While at OU he won the distinction of Team Iron Man during offseason workouts… usually unheard of by a corner… You have got to know the team has checked out his physical status before signing him … He challenged well while at the Titans, just took a lot of the heat during the teams transitional period of cap hits. He was actually second on the team in tackles to Keith Bulluck until he got hurt (game 9), something disgruntled Titans fans won’t mention. Point is, lets see what happens in camp. I know he is ready and I believe the Jets will benefit more than they realize… One thing is for sure… .He is a hard working 100% effort, never say die type… His attitude, character and lifestyle you’ll find are all role model status and more….
You were right about the fact that he didn’t play in 2007, so I fixed that. But, according to both ESPN.Com and NFL.com he played in 10 games in 2006 and made 5 tackles. Still, the Jets can use all the help they can get so Woolfolk will get a chance to show what he can do here.
