New York Jets vs. Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears rebounded in a big way from their first loss of the season with a 38-20 beat-down of the Giants on the same field they will play on this week.  The Jets have won 3 of their last 4 games, including a rousing upset victory at New England to pull them with one game of the lead in the AFC East.

Look for the Bears to come out running the ball with Thomas Jones (725 yards rushing) and throwing short passes to Mushin Muhammad (41 rec, 566 yards) and Desmond Clark (30 rec, 431 yards).  The Jets are very poor against the run allowing 143.0 yards rushing per game and 4.5 yards per carry.  As soon as the safeties creep up for the Jets, look for Grossman to try to go deep to Mark Bradley who had a good game last week.  The Jets may try to blitz more than usual, because Grossman doesn’t play well when he gets hit hard a few times, tending to throw the ball up for grabs.

The Jets would be smart to run the ball alot with Kevan Barlow and Leon Washington, as Tiki Barber ran all over them last week.  The Bears only allow 98.3 yards rushing per game but 4.3 yards per carry….so it can be done.  Pennington must be careful when throwing the ball down the field as the Bears already have 13 INTs and hold opposing QBs to a 60.2 rating.  Look for the Jets to throw alot of short passes to negate the Bears strong pass rush.

The Bears are the much better team here and they will win this game with ease as long as they don’t turn the ball over.
