The Jets won this football game because of their running game, which is a huge surprise. Chad Pennington managed the game well, completing 16 of 22 passes for 189 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. Rookie RB Leon Washington had a fantastic football game. Washington carried the ball 20 times for 129 yards (6.5 ypc) and 2 TDs. Kevan Barlow chipped in 12 carries for 49 yards (4.1 ypc) and a TD. Jerricho Cotchery caught 7 passes for 79 yards. WR Justin McCareins got out of the doghouse long enough to catch one pass…..a 44-yard TD!

SS Erik Coleman (11 tackles) and LB Jonathan Vilma (11 tackles, 1 pass defensed and an interception) led the Jets defense. The Jets allowed the Lions to carry the football 22 times for 125 yards (5.7 ypc). The Lions also completed 22 of 36 passes for 261 net yards passing.

This was a good win for the Jets.
