The Jets pushed the Eagles around all night long despite only winning this game by 4 points.  Kellen Clemens was so-so in this game as he completed 7 of 13 passes for 70 yards.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 18 yards (9.0 ypc) before leaving with a injury.  Mark Brunell was very solid for the Jets last night as he completed 11 of 17 passes for 118 yards with 2 TD passes.  Chauncey Washington led the way on the ground with 56 yards rushing on 12 carries (4.7 ypc).  Danny Woodhead (12 car, 45 yards, TD) and Joe McKnight (9 rec, 34 yards) both pitched in on the ground for the Jets in this game.  Santonio Holmes caught 4 passes for 97 yards (24.3 avg) including a TD pass.  TE Jeff Cumberland pitched in with 2 grabs for 7 yards with a TD.  The Jets finished up with 175 yards rushing (4.5 ypc) and 172 yards passing as they had possession of the ball for 37:31.

DE/DT Matt Kroul led the way for the Jets’ D in this game with 6 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks and 2 QB hits.  Safety Emanuel Cook pitched in with 3 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 interception.  The Eagles finished up with 72 yards rushing (3.6 ypc) and 112 yards passing in this game.  The Jets finish the pre-season with a 2-2 record.

The New York Jets release Laveranues Coles

Blogged under Leaving Town, Bloglockers, Front Page, Attention Jets Fans, General by admin on Wednesday 1 September 2010 at 4:24 pm

The Jets have released 32-year old WR Laveranues Colts.  Coles played in 3 pre-season games for the Jets this year and he caught 4 passes for 19 yards (4.8 avg).  Coles played in 16 games (13 starts) for the Bengals last year in which he caught 43 passes for 514 yards (12.0 avg) with 5 TD grabs.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Coles hooked on with another team soon but the Jets liked their other receivers better so I don’t have an issue with this.

The New York Jets cut Kevin O’Connell

Blogged under Leaving Town, Bloglockers, Front Page, Attention Jets Fans, General by admin on Wednesday 1 September 2010 at 4:22 pm

The Jets have cut 25-year old QB Kevin O’Connell.  O’Connell played in three pre-season games for the Jets and he completed 8 of 16 passes (50%) for 70 yards with 0 TD passes and 2 INTs (22.4 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 2 times for 7 yards (3.5 ypc) for the Jets in the pre-season.  This did not come as much of a surprise with Mark Sanchez, Mark Brunell and Kellen Clemens ahead of O’Connell on the depth chart.

The New York Jets lose Calvin Pace

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Injury Reports, General by admin on Wednesday 1 September 2010 at 9:25 am

The Jets have lost starting OLB Calvin Pace for at least the next 6 weeks due to a broken right foot.  Pace played in 12 games for the Jets last year and he had 55 tackles, 1 pass defensed, 8 sacks and 3 forced fumbles.  The Jets might not miss him a whole lot is 35-year old Jason Taylor still has something left in the gas tank.  Taylor played in 16 games for the enemy Miami Dolphins last season and he had 42 tackles, 5 passes defensed, 7 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 1 INT.

LaDainian Tomlinson is showing that he might have something left in the tank for the New York Jets

Blogged under The Pre Season, Bloglockers, Front Page, General by admin on Saturday 28 August 2010 at 1:26 pm

31-year old RB LaDainian Tomlinson looks like he wants to be more than just Shonn Greene’s caddy this year for the Jets.  He has carried the ball 22 times for 129 yards (5.9 ypc) and he has caught 4 passes for 25 yards (6.3 avg) so far this pre-season.  I still think that Greene will get the bulk of the workload on 1st and 2nd down for the Jets this year, don’t be surprised if L.T. gets more P.T. than anyone thought he would in 2010.
